Madden NFL 09 (PS3) Review [ August 13th, 2008 ] Posted in » Video Games

This game, I think, delivers the most complete football package ever.  No matter if you’re just starting out or have been playing for years, you can still enjoy an experience that is tailored to your playing style, using the new Adaptive Difficulty Engine, which offers uniqueness while still giving you a challenging experience.  For Online Leagues, this game features trades and stats tracking.  Up to 32 teams can fight it out using flex scheduling, a new feature.  An enhanced graphics engine and new, better player models help make a distinction between linemen, who have more bulky bodies, and backs and receivers, who have slender and sleeker looks with which they fly across the field.  What an amazing game!

Sony PlayStation 3 Blu-ray Disc Remote Review

This accessory is important to enhance your PlayStation 3 Blu-ray DVD experience!  It’s awesome that you don’t even have to point it at anything for it to work, since it’s Bluetooth.  In fact, you can be in another room completely and it would still work!  (Of course, there’s not much point in that, but I just thought I’d bring it up).  Anyway, it really adds to your PS3 Blu-ray DVD viewing pleasure, since it works so perfectly.  While a universal remote is cool, the special Bluetooth feature really makes this remote the best I’ve seen.  I look forward to seeing all remotes working like this someday…it’s so much better than the standard IR!

Madden NFL 09 Review

This latest installment in the Madden NFL video game series is the thickest and best-produced football video game package ever made so far, in my opinion. There is a really cool feature called the “Adaptive Difficulty Engine”, which adjusts the difficulty of the game based on how you play and how well your strategies are developed. If you enjoy statistics, this game also will be really satisfying to you. You can run a tournament with up to 32 teams, and view detailed statistics about every aspect of the game. The graphics are really great as well, making things look much more realistic. I’d buy this game if I were you.

Official Nintendo Wii Wheel Review

Mario Kart Wii does come with one Nintendo Wii wheel, but if you like to play multiplayer racing, then you should consider buying an additional wheel or two (or three) so that everyone who wants to can join in on the fun. The Wii wheel really helps you get involved in the game, and having four can settle arguments much more easily. Once you use the wheel, you’ll be hooked.

Soul Calibur IV Review

I’m a veteran to the Soul Calibur game series, and this game continues on the great legacy and play style of the previous games. I really like how the attacks are live and depend on strategy rather than memorizing button combination patterns, which seems to be the key element in many other fighting games. There haven’t been too many updates to the game since Soul Calibur III, but Soul Calibur IV really is a good game. It’s worth the money, even with the limited improvements. If you like fighting games at all, this is one that you should definitely check out as soon as possible.

Nintendo DS Lite Cobalt / Black Review

There’s not much to do during my free time here in Iraq, so I purchased the Nintendo DS. I had used the PSP before, but I wasn’t very impressed with the games for it, and I grew bored fairly quickly. A lot of my friends over here have the DS Lite, so I decided to get one as well. The multiplayer works really cool, and when I’m tired of DS games, I can play my older GBA games as well. This really is an amazing portable video game system!

Rock Band Special Edition Review

This game brings out the true origins of the long-growing story line of the series. It’s the fourth installment in the Soul Calibur series. Yes, you’ll see a lot of return faces from the older games in the series, but there are tons of new characters as well. The characters can be customized to a much greater level than in any of the previous games. Online battles work great as well; it’s one of the best parts of Soul Calibur IV. This is a great adventure and multiplayer game combined in to one. It’s sure to please you!

Wii Nunchuk Controller Review

The Nunchuck looks very odd at first. When I first saw it, I didn’t think I’d like it at all. However, it really does at functionality and challenge to the games, allowing you to control your character in a three-dimensional plane of motion. No matter what game you’re playing on the Wii, there’s probably a different use for the Nunchuck controller. This controller is great for so many reasons – it adds more motion detection as well as a more accurate connection to your body movements; this is a must have for any Wii owners.

Playstation 3 Dualshock 3 Wireless Controller Review

The Sixaxis controller worked fine for me, but the additional features of the Dualshock 3 controller convinced me to go ahead and buy it. It just feels much more natural in your hands, and it’s really nice to have rumble back in the controller, as it makes the games feel much more realistic.

The rumble in the Dualshock 3 is backwards compatible with PS2 games; I was surprised to see that it worked on “God of War”, a PS2 game, when I played it on the PS3. The controller really works perfectly – if you liked the style of the older PS controllers, this is definitely for you.

Wii Remote Controller Review

Although the Wii remote is a little more expensive than your typical video game controller, it’s additional functionality makes it worth every cent. Every first person shooter game is amazing on the Wii, as you actually get to aim with your remote rather than using an analog stick. However, if you’d like to use an analog stick, you can also buy an attachment called the Nunchuck. Old games are supported by the Classic Controller, which reminds me of an SNES controller mixed with a Game Cube controller. It’s a little more expensive to have to get all the types of controllers, but once you try it you’ll be hooked.
