Fujifilm Finepix S700 Digital Camera Review

I haven’t had the Fuji Finepix S700 for long, but all the rave reviews I read about this digital camera have proved accurate. This camera takes bright, vibrant pictures both in and outside, and considering the price of this camera, I was surprised Fuji was able to fit in a 10x optical zoom. I absolutely love the zoom. It is my favorite feature of this camera. I was able to take a picture of my baby son zoomed in from across the room, the picture that resulted was crystal-clear.

Canon FS100 Camcorder Review

I just got this Canon FS100 camcorder in the mail from Amazon. Here are my impressions. The camera is very compact, and looks pretty good, too. There are many electronics products I’d be embarrassed to carry around in public due to their ugly looks, but this isn’t one of them. The footage shot by this camera is good. What’s great about this Canon camcorder is that it uses SD memory cards, so you can just remove the card, plop it in your computer, and transfer the video pretty quickly. If you don’t have an SD card reader on your computer, the cam also comes with a USB cord for transferring video. The photos this camcorder takes aren’t exactly print-worthy, but no camcorder is good at taking photos. Any photo quality you get with a digital cam is icing on the cake. The photos I took with the FS100 were good enough for email or web use, which is all I need.

Buy the Canon FS100 at Amazon.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5A Digital Camera Review

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5A is perhaps one of my favorite digital cameras that can be bought on the market right now. It has 9.1 megapixels, a 28mm wide-angle lens, 10x optical zoom, and a sleek and solid design. Compared to old-fashioned 35mm cameras, the wide-angle lens on the Lumix lets you capture wider shots. The zoom on this camera is optical, not digital, which means that the zoom is performed by the lens. Many cameras boast that they have a certain zoom capability, but this zoom is often digital, a software zoom done by the camera that provides poor results. Most cameras these days feature some sort of red-eye removal and good automatic features, which this camera does well. I have no problems with red-eye when using it, and the Advanced Intelligent Auto mode takes the best possible picture automatically. The 2.5 inch LCD this camera comes with is out of this world. Not only that, but I also found I could connect the camera to my new HDTV and view my pictures on it. This camera uses the Venus Engine IV, which is a step-up from the Venus Engine III used in past Panasonic Lumix cameras. It provides better picture quality with less noise.

I don’t regret buying the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5A one bit. The only regret I have is buying it at Best Buy. You can get it at Amazon.com for a lot less with the added benefits of free shipping and no tax.

Canon PowerShot A470 Digital Camera Review

This Canon PowerShot A470 is great. It’s simple to use, able to do what it does well (taking pictures). The build quality seems to be very good, and I often get positive comments about my new PowerShot at family events and soccer games. The 7 megapixels this camera has is good enough. Though you can get cameras now with 12 megapixels, such high-megapixel cameras are gimmicks. Most people don’t even need anything above 5 megapixels. Granted, this camera isn’t for professional users, but it’s perfect for everyday use. Click here to buy it at Amazon.

Canon HG10 AVCHD 40GB Camcorder Review

I received the Canon GH10 AVCHD camcorder as a gift a month ago. Though I was initially wary about using a hard-drive camcorder, thirty days later I’m glad I have one. It’s great not having to deal with tapes, and the hard drive makes transferring videos the computer easy, plus there’s no quality loss. I don’t have to worry about overwriting data when I rewind, and deleting unwanted footage is simple. As for the interface of the camera, it too is easy to navigate through, the menu options arranged logically.
Had I not bought this camcorder, I would have bought it with my own money at Amazon. It’s well worth the investment.

Canon PowerShot SD950IS Digital Camera Review

I got the Canon PowerShot SD950IS five days ago and I’m quite impressed. If you can afford it without problem then you get it now. Some consider the price and 12 megapixels to be overkill, but I wanted the best camera I could get, so I bought this.

The pictures this camera produces are sharp, color accurate and, in Manual mode, have many SLR, non-auto type choices such as WB, exposure setting, shutter speed change, color accent, and more. The movie setting is simple to use, gives you the option of HD. I had a good five days with this camera, and plan to have a good few years with it, too.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ4K Digital Camera Review

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ4K is perhaps one of the better digital cameras available on the market right now. It has 8.1 megapixels, a 28mm wide-angle lens, 10x optical zoom, and a sleek and solid design. Compared to old-fashioned 35mm cameras, the wide-angle lens on the Lumix lets you capture wider shots. The zoom on this camera is optical, not digital, which means that the zoom is done by the lens. Many cameras claim they have a certain zoom capacity, but this zoom is often digital, a software zoom performed by the camera that provides poor results. Most cameras these days feature some sort of red-eye removal and good automatic features, which this camera does well. This camera uses the Venus Engine IV, which is a step-up from the Venus Engine III used in past Panasonic Lumix cameras. It provides better picture quality with less noise.

All things considered, I’m glad I bought the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ4K. I wouldn’t hesitate about buying another Lumix camera in the future.

Canon PowerShot SX100IS Digital Camera Review

I bought this Canon PowerShot SX100IS camera last month and I’ve take over 400 pictures and a movie or two. I generally like taking my pictures in automatic mode like you would a normal camera, but sometimes I like to play around with manual settings, both of which this PowerShot camera lets me do.. I’ve used this camera to shoot pictures of my niece at the park, at the aquarium and on a carousal. The face recognition/ picture centering feature and the image stablization is great and allows you to capture images with out blurring. The aquarium pictures were amazing, with very clear detail and perfect lighting. The movies were clear with out shaking and the sound was pretty good. I also like that this camera allows me to use 2 AA batteries of any brand in case I get stuck somewhere with out any power. Buy it at Amazon.com.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18K Digital Camera Review

I’ve had this camera for nearly two weeks now. I researched this class of camera (more versatility and better quality than a compact, but not as pricey as a DSLR) for a couple of months. The FZ18 is perfect for those who want the features of an SLR without paying the high price.

Canon PowerShot SD890IS Digital Camera Review

The Canon PowerShot SD890IS is loaded with features, but also lets you change to manual settings for those of us who want more control over their photos. One of my favorite features is the face detection, which is fairly good at picking up faces when taking pictures and focusing on them. Some may say 10 megapixels is overkill, but I know three years from now, I’ll still have a competitive camera that meets my needs.

Buy the Powershot SD890 IS at Amazon.
